Man Robbed By 'Fake' Police Officers
The PSNI has launched an investigation after two men robbed a homeowner while dressed as police officers.
The two men called at a house in the Seacoast Road area of Magilligan, Limavady, on Tuesday evening at about 19:30. The men were wearing police uniforms and claimed to be investigating a counterfeit cash scam.
They asked the male occupant to hand over any notes he had and made off in a small car.
Police said both men wore yellow coats, caps and badges with 'police' written on them.
They also wore black boots and trousers and yellow rubber gloves.
The first man is described as being around 35 years old, around 5'7" tall, of thin build with a local accent and the second man as being in his 40s, approximately 5'9" in height, of medium build and also with a local accent.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Detectives can confirm that these men were not police officers and would remind householders not to permit anyone inside their home without being 100% sure of who they are.
"Householders should always check the ID of any unknown caller irrespective of who they claim to represent and if in doubt, not let them in."
