Mivan Bought By Newry-Based MJM Group
MJM Group Chairman Brian McConville has announced he has bought Mivan out of administration.
Established in 1983 by the McConville family, MJM Group is a world leader in the refurbishment of Cruise Liners, Ferries, Super Yachts, luxury hotel and leisure facilities, office and retail and private residential. Mivan, one of Northern Ireland's best known construction companies, was founded by Ivan McCabrey in 1975 and specialised in fitting out cruise ships and high-end commercial and residential developments.
Earlier this week, Mivan announced it had ceased trading but this news means that the Mivan brand will continue.
"We are delighted that we were able to rescue the Mivan brand and bring it into the MJM Group of companies. There are obvious synergies between the two operations which will allow us great efficiencies and economies of scale. Initially we expect to create 40 to 50 jobs in Antrim from the existing local skilled workforce and we believe that, by implementing the efficient work practices that have underpinned our growth to date, we can drive the Mivan brand back to its former glory," said Brian McConville, Chairman of MJM Group.
MJM Group intends to operate Mivan as a separate entity.
