Eight New Jobs For Hannan Meats

Hannan Meats has said it is to create eight new jobs as part of a £279,000 expansion plan.

The Moira-based firm has received support from Investment Northern Ireland's Jobs Fund.

Making the announcement, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said the assistance from Invest NI will allow the company to grow sales of beef and bacon outside Northern Ireland.

Ms Foster said: "This is a significant investment by a company which has a very impressive track record in the development of innovative products and processes especially salt-ageing techniques to enhance the flavour and texture of its meats.

"Our support will enable the company to accelerate its business growth plans and to create eight new jobs by the end of March that will add an additional £124,000 in wages to the local economy."

Hannan Meats founder, Peter Hannan, added: "We are investing to enable us to benefit from the opportunities growing rapidly outside Northern Ireland for premium meats with provenance.

"It will enable us to raise the profile further of our key brands which gained almost 30 gold stars in this year's UK Great Taste Awards and gained five listings in the Top 50 Foods.

"The investment will also benefit local farmers who supply us with exceptional raw material, Glenarm Shorthorn and Euro Angus cattle. Our success with discerning clients enables us to offer them an additional premium for quality."

Hannan Meats was established by Peter Hannan in 1991 and currently employs 22 people.
