Carrick Security Alert Declared A Hoax

A security alert has ended in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

The alert, in the Broadlands area, is the third alert in just over a week.

Police and army bomb experts attended the scene on Monday following the discovery of two suspicious objects in the area. Residents were evacuated from their homes.

The incident has since been declared "elaborate hoaxes" by the PSNI. Residents have been allowed to return home.

Previous alerts, on 19 and 20 January, were also hoaxes.

A bomb alert in Newtownabbey has been declared a hoax. PSNI have described the security alert as an "elaborate hoax". The M5, was closed in both directions from Hazelbank to Doagh Road, on Tuesday night. All roads have re-opened.

A security alert has ended after a suspicious object found in a car close to an east Belfast police station was declared an "elaborate hoax". Residents in the Woodstock Road area had to evacuate their homes at about 21:00 on Sunday evening, while nearby Church services were also interrupted.

Hoax Objects Found In Carrickfergus Alert
Two suspicious objects found during a security alert in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, have been declared elaborate hoaxes according to police. The security alert began on Sunday afternoon in the Broadlands Gardens area of the town, when several homes were evacuated.

L'Derry Security Alert 'Elaborate Hoax'
A security alert in L'Derry has been declared an 'elaborate hoax'. A suspicious object was found in the Oakvale Terrace area on Friday morning. Residents had to be evacuated from their homes, while army bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on the object. All roads have no been reopened and residents have returned to their homes.

Security Alert In South Belfast Declared A Hoax
Residents had to be evacuated from their homes in south Belfast following a security alert in south Belfast. A suspicious object was thrown at a property in the Blythe Street area at around 11.30pm. Police and army technical officers attended the scene which was described as a hoax. The residents have now returned to their homes.
