Paschal McAfee Murder - Man Released

A man arrested over the murder of Paschal McAfee before Christmas has been released.

The body of Paschal 'Basil' McAfee was found by his mother at a house in Henderson Avenue, off the Cavehill Road in north Belfast, on 20 December.

Police reported that the Mr McAfee, 50, was found with head wounds that were consistent with having been hit with an axe. He had also been been stabbed with a knife.

A 54-year-old man was arrested in east Belfast on Monday morning, 13 January, but was released the same evening.

A 34-year-old man arrested on 23 December as part of the investigation was released unconditionally on Boxing Day.

Man Released Over Murder Of Basil McAfee
A man has been released on bail over the murder of Basil McAfee in north Belfast in December 2013. Mr McAfee, who was attacked with an axe and a knife, was found at his home on Henderson Avenue on 20 December. Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder so far. The 39-year-old has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Man arrested in connection with murder
One man has been arrested following the murder of a man in Co Down last month. Andrew Cully, a father of teenage boys from Greyabbey, was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his parked car in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards on 24 March.

Woman Arrested Over Basil McAfee Murder Released
A woman being questioned by police over the murder of Basil McAfee in north Belfast in December 2013 has been released. Mr McAfee's body was discovered at his home on Henderson Avenue on 20 December. He was the victim of an attack involving an axe and a knife. He was last seen alive on the evening of 19 December. This is the sixth arrest so far.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
