Power Restored To 10,000 Homes

Northern Ireland Electricity has restored electricity supplies to around 10,000 customers after gale force winds swept across northern and eastern parts of Northern Ireland last night.

Northern Ireland Electricity says it will continue to respond to the few remaining customers affected by the weather.

Julia Carson, NIE Communications Manager said: "We may need to take some customers off supply this morning to facilitate permanent network repairs but we hope to have electricity restored to the majority of homes by lunchtime.

"We would like to remind customers that if they do lose electricity supplies they should contact the NIE Customer Helpline on 08457 643 643 or report a power cut online at nie.co.uk."
