Man In Court Over Alliance Attack

A man is to appear in court today on charges relating to a loyalist attack on the Alliance Party offices in east Belfast.

The man has been charged with the attack on the office of MP Naomi Long, as well as intimidation, criminal damage, having no driving licence and having no insurance.

The attack took place at the Alliance Party office on the Upper Newtownards Road on 6 December.

Driver Hijacked In West Belfast

A driver has been ordered out of his car at gunpoint in a hijacking in west Belfast.

The incident began at about 10pm on Wednesday evening, when a dark-coloured Ford Mondeo stopped in front of a silver Nissan Qashqai car on Wheelers Road in Hannahstown.

Two men, one armed with a firearm, approached the vehicle and ordered the driver to get out of the car

The men then drove off in the Tornagrough Road area.

Police have appealed for information.

Orange Hall Attack Being Treated As 'Hate Crime'

An attack on an Orange hall in Crumlin, Co Antrim is being treated by police as a hate crime.

A report of criminal damage at the hall in the Main Street area was made at around 9.30am on Thursday morning.

Sectarian graffiti was sprayed on the walls of the building.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Men Charged Over Fisheries Offences

Three Enniskillen men have appeared in court over fisheries offences.

Thomas Duffy from Drumbawn Close, Enniskillen was convicted at Fermanagh Magistrates' Court today for fishing by unlicenced and unfair means, failure to give own name and address and impeding a person exercising his powers under Part XI of the Act. Mr Duffy was fined £250, an offender levy of £15, costs of £100 and court costs of £19.

Sean Edward Duffy also from Drumbawn Close, Enniskillen was convicted of fishing by unlicenced and unfair means and failure to give own name and address. He was fined £200, an offender levy of £15, costs of £100 and court costs of £19.

Stephen Love from Sycamore Drive, Enniskillen, was convicted of fishing by unlicenced and unfair means and failure to give own name and address.

Mr Love was fined £200, an offender levy of £15, costs of £19 and court costs of £100.

Former UUP councillor accused of forgery
A former Ulster Unionist councillor has appeared in Armagh Crown Court today, accused of two counts of forgery and false accounting. Raymond Ferguson, 64, and a solicitor from Lakeside Avenue in Enniskillen, denies the charges, which relate to the development of a Fermanagh golf course.

Pair Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Two people have been convicted of benefit fraud at Newry Magistrates' Court today, for claiming benefits they were not entitled to. 31-year-old John McParland of Carrickananny Road, Belleeks claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,496 while failing to declare capital. He was fined £500 and ordered to pay court costs of £34.

Belfast Woman Convicted Of Animal Cruelty
Belfast City Council has welcomed the conviction of a woman for causing unnecessary suffering to a cat. In June this year, the council received complaints that a cat had been left at the property unattended for a number of days.

Two Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Two people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates court for claiming benefits they were not entitled to. Gerard Browne, 29, of Summerhill Drive, Belfast was given 12 months probation and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Incapacity Benefit totalling £377.
