Fuel Tanker Attack On Quinn Headquarters

A fuel tanker has been driven into the former headquarters of the Quinn Group in Fermanagh and set alight.

Police have launched an investigation following the attack, which occurred at about 23:00 on Wednesday in the Ballyconnell Road area of Derrylin.

The vehicle was stolen from a nearby property before being driven into the front of the building and set alight.

The fire service managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread.

The fire is the latest in a number of attacks on properties formally owned by bankrupt billionaire Sean Quinn, who was once Ireland's richest man.

His business empire collapsed in 2011.

Police are investigating the latest incident and have appealed for information.

Sinn Féin Phil Flanagan condemned the attack.

He said: "This is a despicable act and is not representative of the local community.

"Those behind these actions are not acting out of loyalty to the Quinn family and are not furthering any cause.

"The only result of such activity will be employment opportunities being impacted upon and that is a matter of grave concern for the people of the local community."
