CurrencyFair Creates 30 New Dublin Jobs
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has announced that CurrencyFair is to add 30 jobs at the official opening of the company's new offices in Dublin.
CurrencyFair, the world's first peer-to-peer currency exchange marketplace, launched the new purpose built offices in Dublin and will provide roles which are a unique blend of coding and financial skills.
The company was established with the vision that individuals and small businesses should have access to very competitive exchange rates for international transfers that are normally reserved for big banks and businesses dealing in multi-million transactions. Money Matching leads to unprecedented savings and control while cutting out unnecessary charges, Irish people alone lost over €100m in bloated fees this year on total global transfers in and out of Ireland of over €2bn in 2012, an average 5% fee. Since launching the company has saved its customers €25m in bank fees and exchange rate charges based on total transfers of €600m.
Speaking at the Official opening, The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD said: "Ireland has a growing reputation as one of the best and most exciting locations in the world for innovative technology start-ups. The establishment and rapid growth of CurrencyFair in Dublin is proof of that.
"The best advances in technology make the world a smaller place and the services provided by CurrencyFair will help people all over the world to transfer money cheaply. I welcome the creation of 30 new jobs in this ambitious and innovative Irish financial technology company and wish them continued success on their global expansion.
"Through the Action Plan for Jobs, the Government will continue to focus resources on growth sectors so that we can build on the 1,200 jobs per week created in the past year."

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.

Talk Talk To Close Its Doors
The Talk Talk call centre in Waterford will today shut down with up to 600 people set to be left unemployed by this evening. This follows an announcement last month that the company would close its Irish base within 30 days. The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton pushed for an extension to the 30-day notice period but the request was later refused.

Fresh Irish Job Losses Announced
In a devastating blow it has been revealed that a further 1,130 jobs could be under threat in Ireland. It has been rumored that 130 jobs could be axed at Rigney Dolphin who employ around 1,000 people in three offices in Waterford, Dublin and Dundalk.
