150 New Jobs In Mayo Welcomed

Fianna Fáil Jobs Spokesperson Dara Calleary has welcomed confirmation of 150 new jobs at Northgate Information Solutions in Castlebar.

The Mayo Deputy commented: "This is a welcome boost for the county and the Castlebar area in particular. Great credit is due to the Enterprise and Investment Unit in Mayo County Council, which played a key role in securing this expansion.

"We need to see more of this type of enterprise investment in Co Mayo and the Western region as a whole. The recovery in employment in this region is lagging behind Dublin and Cork, and much of the new jobs we have seen in the West are concentrated in Galway.

"We still have a jobs crisis in Mayo, with more than 11,800 people on the Live Register in this county. Many more of our graduates have been forced to emigrate for work. I am calling on the Government to make a targeted effort to attract investors to Co Mayo and to provide some much needed support to small businesses in this county."
