NI Food Firm Secures £1m Gulf Deal
A Northern Irish food company has won a £1m contract to supply its products to the Gulf.
Kettyle Irish Foods, based in Lisnaskea, was assisted by Invest NI to line up a distribution deal for its dry-aged meats in key Gulf markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster, who was speaking at the close of an Invest NI trade mission to Dubai, said: "This is immensely significant business for Kettyle Irish Foods in one of the fastest growing markets for premium quality food especially beef and lamb.
"The new business will provide Kettyle with a solid base for further growth in these and neighbouring markets in which the high quality, traceability and provenance of our meat and other foods in being increasingly recognised.
"Assisting the growth of such export-led and innovation-focused companies is central to the Agri-Food Strategy Board’s 'Going for Growth - Investing in Success' action plan. I am committed to providing the necessary support for the action plan’s key recommendations including a 75 per cent growth in sales outside Northern Ireland by 2020."
Maurice Kettyle, Managing Director of Kettyle Irish Foods, said: “We’ve been targeting affluent Gulf markets especially the Emirates and Saudi Arabia for some time and have now secured encouraging business for our 40-day-aged beef and 14 day-aged lamb with leading retailer and the prestigious Raffles Hotel Group in Dubai and Saudi Arabia."

A £150,000 support package for several projects promoting the quality of local food - such as the successful Taste of Ulster scheme - has been announced by the Northern Ireland Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill. The Minister made the announcement today as she met with one of the beneficiaries of the funding support, Food NI.

Belfast food outlets to be rated online
Eating establishments in Belfast are soon to be rated on a new website to be set up by Belfast City Council. The website, which will be known as 'Scores on the Doors', will provide a facility for consumers to be able check whether the standard of the food served at the premises is up to scratch.
