Gale Warning For NI

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the UK Met Office for Northern Ireland, due to the risk of gale-force winds along the north and east coasts.

"The north or northwesterly winds will increase during the early hours of Wednesday, with gusts perhaps reaching 60-70 mph in places," the Met Office said.

The warning will last until midnight tonight.

"The public should be aware that the winds are likely to be strong enough to cause some local disruption to travel, and possibly some minor damage to buildings and trees. The winds will slowly moderate from the west during Wednesday evening."

Met Éireann, the Irish National Meteorological Service, said Northern Ireland would be "cold and windy with highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees in strong to gale force and gusty northwest to north winds."
