Pipe Bomb Found In West Belfast
A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert in west Belfast, in which a number of residential properties were evacuated.
The alert began on Tuesday morning in Andersonstown near De La Salle College.
It has been reported that pupils were guided into the school this morning via the Ramoan Gardens entry, due to road restrictions around Cavanmore Gardens.
Army bomb experts were tasked to scene and declared a viable device was discovered in the area.
The device has been taken away for further examination.
The roads have now reopened and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
SDLP West Belfast MLA Alex Attwood condemned the placing of the device.
"People want to get to work, do their shopping and get to school, without fear or inconvenience," he said.
"The people who suffer most from these threats and hoaxes are the people of West Belfast. Those who carry out these actions are going against the wishes of the people of the area."
