Man suffers serious head injury in north Belfast
A man has suffered a serious head injury during disturbances outside shops near a community interface in north Belfast.
The victim was reportedly attacked outside Ardoyne shops near the junction of Twaddell Avenue shortly before 10pm.
Progressive Unionist Party member Billy Hutchinson claimed two Protestant teenagers were set upon during the incident. He said he arrived on the scene to see one of the men being taken away by ambulance and blamed nationalist youths for the incident.
Shortly afterwards there were reports of two petrol bombs being thrown from the Glenbryn area towards the peace line at Alliance Avenue.
The area is well known for sectarian interface violence. It made international headlines last year when there was a protest at Holy Cross Girl's Primary School by Protestant residents.
