Haass Returns For All-Party Talks

Former US envoy Richard Haass is due to return to NI to continue all-party talks on contentious issues, such as parades, flags and the region's history.

The NI Executive chose Dr Haass to chair the discussions which aim to resolve the long-standing, and often controversial, issues.

Last month, he was in Belfast to meet with politicians and community leaders. Mr Haass held around 30 meetings with almost 100 different people, which included politicians, academics, religious and business leaders.

He is now expected to be arrive back in NI today to continue talks with politicians and other interested parties.

In September, Haass said there was no reason why the December deadline for consensus between NI's politicians cannot be met.
