Church Daubed With Sectarian Graffiti

Republican and sectarian graffiti has been painted on the walls of a protestant church in L'Derry some time between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Slogans such as 'IRA' and 'out now', among others, were painted on the walls of Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church.

SDLP Shantallow Councillor Angela Dobbins condemned those behind the vandalism.

"The actions of these mindless few are uncalled for and they certainly do not represent our community," she said.

"I strongly condemn this act of wanton destruction. This church has been in Ballyarnett through the worst of the troubles and has remained an interactive part of the community. It is a real a shame that this has happened."
