Edge Innovative (NI) Scoops Business In South Africa
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced that Edge Innovate (NI) has won business worth around £2m in South Africa.
The Minister, who is leading an Invest NI trade mission to South Africa, announced the new business during a visit to the Dungannon company's stand at the Bauma Africa exhibition in Johannesburg.
Edge Innovate specialises in the design and manufacture of mobile machinery such as stackers, conveyors, stockpilers, shredders and trommels for recycling a wide range of materials. The company has secured orders for projects in South Africa and is also looking at other markets across the continent.
Arlene Foster said: "This immensely significant business gives this export-focused and innovation-led company a very strong foothold in South Africa and also in other fast developing markets in Sub Saharan Africa.
"South Africa is seen by the Northern Ireland Executive and Invest NI as a market offering substantial business potential for the broadest range of local companies, especially those engaged in the manufacture of machinery for industries such as materials handling for quarrying, construction, infrastructure projects and recycling."
Darragh Cullen, Edge Innovate Managing Director, commenting on the new business, added: "Our deal with a distributor in Johannesburg follows participation in a series of Invest NI missions to explore what we believe will be another extremely significant market for our leading-edge equipment and over expertise in materials handling."
