£950,000 Road Schemes For Armagh
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a major investment in the roads network in Armagh.
Resurfacing schemes will take place on Keady Road, Newtownhamilton; Summerisland Road, Ardress and Derrynoose Road, Keady in the coming months.
Work is also due to be completed on the Armagh Road, Charlemont by the end of September.
Work will begin on the Keady Road, Newtownhamilton, hear Carrickatuke on 23 September, and is expected to be completed on 6 October.
On the Summerisland and Ardess roads, work is expected to commence on 7 October and be completed by 10 November.
The start date for the work on the Derrynoose Road, Keady, will be dependent on progress at the Monaghan Road improvement scheme, as well as resurfacing works at madden and Lislynn which is scheduled for completion on 28 October.
Road closures are required for each of these works and appropriate diversion routes will be in place. Preliminary work has already been carried out on Main Street Charlemont to facilitate a traffic diversion. This is required in order to complete the resurfacing work on the Armagh Road Charlemont which is scheduled for the weekend of 27 to 29 September.
The Armagh Road will be closed while work is being carried out and will be limited to periods between Friday 27 September from 6.30pm and 6am on Saturday 28 September and on Sunday 29 September from 6am to midnight.
During periods of road closures access will only be available to local residents and to local businesses within the length of the closures.
The Minister said: "This is a significant investment of almost £1million which will help improve the structural condition of over five miles of a number of main roads which connect urban communities.
"I would ask the public for their patience during these works as delays can be expected and should be planned for."
