Two Men Arrested For Overstaying Their Visas

Two men have been arrested following a planned immigration raid at a Chinese takeaway in Newcastle, Co Down.

A Chinese man, 53, and a Filipino man, 24, working in the Wok Box, were discovered by Home Office officials. Both men were found to have overstayed their visas.

The men are currently being held while arrangements are being made for them to be removed from Northern Ireland.

The Chinese takeaway is liable for a fine of up to £20,000.

Man Injured Following Fire At Chinese Take-Away In L'Derry
A man has been taken to hospital following a fire at a Chinese take-away in Co L'Derry. Over 30 fire fighters attended the blaze in the Carlisle Road area at around 10.15am on Sunday. The fire is believed to have started on the first floor of the property and five fire engines attended the scene.

Appeal For Information On Aggravated Burglary In Cookstown
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a report of an aggravated burglary at the Queens Avenue area of Cookstown on Friday 3rd February. Shortly after 10pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a property in the area with one of the men armed with an iron bar and another man armed with a suspected firearm.

Two Men Attacked With Baseball Bats In Co Antrim
Two 18-year-old men have been attacked with baseball bats in Whitehead, Co Antrim. The victims were closing premises in the Balmoral Avenue area at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 04 October when three men assaulted them. Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries. One has been discharged, and the other remains in hospital.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.
