Fire Breaks Out At South Belfast Shop
More than 25 firefighters have tackled a blaze at a sandwich shop in south Belfast.
The fire, which broke out at Doorsteps on Botanic Avenue, was reported shortly after 6am this morning. It is understood it started in a store room. The blaze has left the ground floor of the premises badly damaged and crews remain at the scene. The police are also in attendance.
NIFRS Group Commander, Aidan Jennings, said: "The quick actions of our crews have prevented fire spread and smoke travel through the rest of the building."
A full investigation into the fire will be carried out, but Mr Jennings said it was too early to determine a cause.
As a result of the incident, roads around the area have been closed, from Cromwell Road to Lower Crescent, and bus services which operate in the area have also been disrupted.
