Teenager charged with jewellery robbery
An 18-year-old Belfast teenager has been remanded in custody following the robbery of a jewellery store in Belfast at the weekend.
Patrick Joseph Clarke, from the Springfield Road in west Belfast, faces burglary and criminal damage charges following the incident at Walker and Hall Goldsmiths on Saturday.
Laganside Magistrates' Court heard how an off-duty police officer gave chase to a man after the assailant stole three watches worth £3,000 from the Royal Avenue store.
A detective told the court he believed he could connect Mr Clarke with the charge.
He was remanded in custody for a week.

South African man in custody after cannabis seizure
A South African national has been remanded in custody following a cannabis seizure at Belfast International Airport worth an estimated £53,000. Gabriel Jacobus Frederick Erasmus, 48, appeared at Belfast Laganside Courts yesterday charged with illegally importing prohibited substances. Mr Erasmus was remanded in custody until January 28.

A Belfast man has been remanded in custody following a weapons and ammunition find in north Belfast on Wednesday. James Samuel Armstrong, 25, of Wilton Street close to the Shankill Road, is charged with having an AK-47 assault rifle, a Browning pistol and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

Man appears in court over Magee attack
A 52-year-old man has appeared in court today charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on world champion boxer Eamonn Magee. Joseph Clarke, from Lagmore Dale in west Belfast, also faced charges of possession of an offensive weapon and damage to the car in which Mr Magee was travelling.
