Urban regeneration specialist Clive Dutton OBE has been appointed by Irish language development agency Forbairt Feirste to aid regeneration efforts in west Belfast.

Mr Dutton will focus on the city’s Gaeltacht Quarter and will work with Ministers, Belfast City Council and Forbairt Feirste to identify new ways to bring economic and social transformation to the area.

Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said: "Clive’s appointment provides us with an opportunity to make a paradigm shift in the fortunes of this part of Belfast.

"I hope it will unleash the creative and economic potential of the area by leveraging its unique and distinctive culture.

"We have an asset of international standing and importance in the Gaeltacht Quarter – now is the time to ensure the locality, the city and the region reap lasting benefit."

Those bridges include Irish language, heritage and culture - which are bountiful in the Gaeltacht Quarter.
