Flood Warnings Issued For NI

With further heavy rain predicted for Northern Ireland, warnings have now been issued, urging people not to get caught out by flash flooding.

The Met Office has advised the public to be aware of rain and flood warnings in place.

The Consumer Council has now also issued advice to those who think their property is at risk, the BBC has said.

Residents are encouraged to take steps to ensure their property is prepared. This includes getting sandbags, finding out where electricity and gas can be turned off and preparing a kit.

The Council's Aodhan O'Donnell is quoted as saying: "During past summers, adverse weather has caused flooding issues for consumers across Northern Ireland.

"It is therefore important consumers consider protecting their homes now against the risk of any flooding that may occur."

The advice follows a statement from NI Direct earlier this week which provided information about any potential flooding that could occur as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
