Foster Welcomes UKTI Report
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has welcomed a UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) report which shows that Northern Ireland is one of the most successful regions in the UK and Europe for inward investment.
The report, issued today, shows that the UK has strengthened its position as the leading European destination for foreign investment, with more than 1,500 projects in the past year, creating or safeguarding 170,000 jobs. The report also says there was an 11% increase in the number of foreign investments over the last 12 months, bringing 60,000 new jobs and safeguarding another 110,000 posts.
Arlene Foster said: "This report from UKTI confirms that Northern Ireland is one of the leading destinations in Europe, and one of the most successful within the UK, for inward investment. It is welcome news, particularly when global markets continue to be highly competitive.
"Clearly, Northern Ireland is continuing to build on its reputation for excellence in a number of key sectors, including legal services, financial service and ICT, and this is encouraging more investors to opt for the NI proposition."
