Belfast International Airport Sale Agreed

Sinn Féin Economy Spokesperson, Daithí McKay commenting on the announcement that Belfast International Airport has been acquired by American interests.

He said: "I am looking forward to meeting with the Management of the Airport to acquaint myself with the new owners' plans for the facility.

"The priority must be to ensure the security of current jobs and to work with new management in developing new routes and further employment in the tourism sector.

"The new owners have obviously spotted an opportunity in the market but we now need Airport Passenger Duty transferred to the Executive to help in attracting new carriers and identify new destinations, particularly trans–Atlantic."
