Drug Warning Follows Eight Deaths
The PSNI has put out a warning to drug-users to avoid a green coloured tablet, thought to have caused eight sudden and unexplained deaths in Northern Ireland.
Police are investigating the deaths, seven of which occurred in the Greater Belfast area and one in the North West area over the past number of weeks, involving people in their 20s and 30s.
Police are waiting for the results of forensic tests to see whether or not the deaths were caused by tablets that are thought to be circulating on the illegal drugs trade.
The PSNI has warned drug-users to be particularly careful if they are offered green coloured tablets with a logo of a crown or castle on them.
"The consequences of ignoring this advice are very dangerous and potentially life-threatening," a statement said.
Police would ask anyone who is aware of any individual involved in the supply of controlled drugs to contact their local police on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
