Men Shot In West Belfast

Three men have been shot in the legs in a paramilitary style attack in west Belfast.

The incident occurred on Glenveagh Drive off the Glen Road on Thursday night.

The men, aged 18, 24 and 25, were each shot twice.

The victims have been taken to hospital for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Killed In Bike Accident

A man has been killed while riding his bike in Ballymena.

The traffic accident occurred when the 51-year-old collided with a bus on the Waveney Road at about 20:40 on Thursday.

Man Charged Over Attempted Rape

A 42-year-old man has been charged with the attempted rape of a woman in Newry, Co Down.

The man also faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of criminal damage.

The arrest relates to an incident on Wednesday evening.

He will appear at Armagh Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Two Arrested For Benefit Fraud

Two people have been convicted at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court for benefit fraud.

Ashley Carson (29) of Chichester Park, Ballymena claimed Income Support totalling £2,481 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Joseph Simpson (61) of Ballygarvey Road, Ballymena claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £9,113 while failing to declare capital. He was given a six month conditional discharge.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money they wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Accused man claimed he 'did not mean to kill wife'
A civilian PSNI employee has appeared before Ballymena Magistrates Court in Co Antrim today accused of murdering his wife. The court heard that when charged yesterday 46-year-old Adrian Baird of Loughloughlan Road in Broughshane said that he "did not mean to kill his wife".

Man Charged With Murder Of Mark Lamont
A man has been charged with murder after a man died from his injuries following an attack in Coleraine. Mark Lamont, 54, was critically injured after being assaulted outside a house on the Ballycastle Road in September. He died in hospital on Tuesday, 12 October. The suspect is to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 13 October.

70-Year-Old Ballymena Man Jailed For Axe Attack
A 70-year-old Ballymena man has been jailed for an axe attack in the town in September 2020. At Laganside Court on Monday, 16th December, William Kirkpatrick, was jailed for nine years in connection with the assault at the Russellstown Road area of Ballymena on Monday 14th September 2020.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.

Seven Charged With Strickland Murder
A fourth man has been charged with the murder of Phillip Strickland in Comber last week, bringing the total to seven. The 36-year-old was found in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road, near Comber on Wednesday last. He had been shot several times and was declared dead in hospital a short time later.
