Carrickfergus Bar Damaged In Fire

A bar in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, has been badly destroyed in an overnight fire.

More than 30 firefighters tackled the blaze at Ownies Bar and Bistro which started just before 2am on Tuesday.

The pub, formally knows as the Joymount Arms, is the second to be damaged in the town in as many days. On Saturday, around 12.40am, the Northgate Bar on North Street was gutted in a deliberate fire.

Investigations are now underway for the Ownies Bar fire, but it is thought it was started by an electrical fault.
