Four Arrested Following Car Hijacking

Four men, one aged 23, one aged 16 and two aged 22 are currently being questioned by police on suspicion of a variety of offences including hijacking, burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and breach of bail.

At around 10.45pm on Tuesday, two females were reportedly forced from their vehicle, a red Vauxhall Astra, at Pembroke Loop Road by two men, one of whom is believed to have been armed with a 'sword'.

The car made off at speed and a short time later was involved in a collision with a police vehicle on Stewartstown Road. The car once again made off from the scene.

A few hours later police received a report of a car matching the hijacked vehicle in a field on Carnaghliss Road, Crumlin. Officers attended and recovered a sword from the vehicle. While at the scene, officers received a report of suspicious activity at a house on nearby Ballyhill Road.

Officers responded and found entry had been forced to the property.

The arrested males were located and detained by police a short distance away.

All four have been detained in custody.
