Sport NI Appoints First Woman CEO
The first ever woman to become Chief Executive of Sport Northern Ireland has been appointed today.
Ms Antoinette McKeown will take up her new post in the near future.
A graduate of the University of Ulster and Queens University, Ms McKeown is currently Chief Executive of the Consumer Council.
She previously held posts as Chief Executive of PlayBoard, Northern Ireland’s lead play agency and as Head of Policy and Development with the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
Speaking about the appointment, Sport Northern Ireland Chair Mr Brian Henning said: "On behalf of the Board of Sport Northern Ireland I am delighted to welcome Antoinette as Chief Executive. She has excellent experience and a sound track record in successfully leading customer facing organisations.
"Antoinette emerged successful from a rigorous recruitment process and she impressed the panel with her experience, professionalism and enthusiasm for delivering the benefits of sport to our wider community. I look forward to an exciting period of growth for sport in Northern Ireland and have no doubt Antoinette will lead Sport Northern Ireland's excellent teams, to deliver significant benefits to all sections of our community, whilst ensuring our high performance sport programme is given appropriate priority."

Teenager Dies Following Collision In Kesh
Police have confirmed that an 18-year-old has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Kesh. Shortly after 6pm on Friday 7 June, PSNI received a report of a collision on the Letterboy Road involving a silver Peugeot 207 Sport HDI and blue Honda Accord.

Woman 'Critical' After Collision In Armagh
A woman, aged in her 20s, is in a critical condition in hospital after a one-vehicle crash just outside Armagh. The collision happened on the Moy Road at around 2.30am on Thursday, 15 February. The victim's white Mercedes Sport crashed near to the Ballygassoon Road junction. The road has been reopened.
