Stolen vehicle used in two robberies

Police are appealing for information after a connected burglary and series of robberies took place in Belfast and Lisburn yesterday.

The burglary occurred at a house at Upper Green, Dunmurry yesterday morning with the theft of a red VW Golf, registration TAZ 5819.

This vehicle was later used during a robbery of a supermarket on the Crumlin Road, Belfast by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife. The men escaped with a sum of cash and cigarettes before making off in the waiting Golf in the direction of the Hightown Road.

Forty minutes later the car stopped at a filling station on the Mullaghglass Road, Lisburn. A female member of staff was threatened with a knife before the men made off with cash from the till.

One of the men involved is described as being small with a completely shaven head and scars on his left cheek which are thought to be burns.

The second man is described as being around 6' tall, of slim build with a baseball hat and was wearing a blue or grey coloured zip-up jacket.

Detectives investigating the robbery at the petrol station are appealing for a male witness there to contact them. They also want to hear from anyone with information about any of the incidents and can be contacted at Antrim Road or Lisburn on 028 9065 0222 or on Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
