PSNI Officer Remembrance Service Held
A service of remembrance has taken place in memory of Phillipa Reynolds, the 27-year-old police officer who was killed in February in a road traffic collision.
The service took place yesterday in L'Derry and people from across the city were invited to attend by Ms Reynolds' parents.
The commemoration service was held in First Derry Presbyterian Church at 15:00 on Sunday.
The PSNI officer was killed when she was the back seat passenger in an unmarked police car on that was struck by a stolen 4x4 vehicle on the Limavady Road.
Police believe Philippa, from Crumlin, County Antrim, was killed instantly in the crash.
SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan was in attendance at the ceremony.
"I attended the special remembrance service for Philippa in both a personal and representative capacity to pay tribute to a fine young woman who lost her life in the course of her duty serving the people of our city," he said.
"The service was moving and warm, and celebrated all that Phillippa meant to all those who loved her, all whom she loved and all whom she served.
"The Reynolds family, the police family and this city have lost someone with special qualities, not least her generous spirit which extended well beyond her family and professional life."
