Bus Éireann Strike Called Off

Bus Éireann services have resumed today, following a deal between the company and the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU).

New cost-saving measures have been agreed to protect the future of the company, 2,500 jobs and 300 routes.

Bus Éireann staff in the Republic began a strike on Sunday, over a 5m euros (£4.2m) cost-cutting plan.

Negotiations between the transport firm and the union on Monday led to the strike being called off for 48-hours.

Now it seems a deal has been reached.

Across Sunday and Monday, Bus Éireann services were disrupted, including some cross-border routes such as Dublin - Belfast and Dublin - L'Derry.

A statement from Bus Éireann said the company "wishes to advises customers that all services will operate as scheduled today and going forward after we reached agreement with unions on cost saving measures.

"Thank you to all our customers for their patience & understanding over the last week. We apologise again for any inconvenience caused."
