Shivers Acquitted Of Murders
Brian Shivers, who was originally convicted of the Real IRA murders of two soldiers at Massereene Barracks in 2009, has been acquitted at Belfast Crown Court today.
The soldiers, Mark Quinsey, 23, and Patrick Azimkar, were shot bt the Real IRA as they collected pizza they had ordered.
Mr Shivers, 47, was also cleared of six counts of attempted murder and possession of a gun which was used in the shooting.
Mr Justice Deeney said that he could not be sure that DNA evidence found on matches and a mobile phone was innocently transferred by Mr Shivers.

Price Released Without Charge
A former IRA bomber being held by detectives in Northern Ireland over the killings of two soldiers at Massereene army barracks has been released without charge. Marian Price, 55, was arrested in west Belfast on Tuesday morning. Ms Price served time in prison for her part in the 1973 IRA bombing at the Old Bailey in London.

Dissident Republican Gets 25 Years
A dissident republican convicted of killing two British soldiers has been ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years. Brian Shivers, 46, was sentenced at Belfast Crown Court this morning. The cystic fibrosis sufferer from Londonderry has an estimated four to five years to live.

Man Arrested In Connection With Omagh Bombing
A man has been arrested in connection with the 1998 Omagh bombing. Police arrested the man in Newry area, and say he is being held and questioned in Antrim. Twenty-nine people were killed in the Real IRA attack of 15 August 1998. The bombing has been described as the single worst atrocity in over 30 years of violence.

Omagh Bomb Men Seek To Overturn Ruling
Two men held responsible for the Omagh bombing in 1998 are seeking to have the ruling overturned by the European Court of Human Rights. Jailed Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt and Liam Campbell are to challenge the ruling, due reportedly to their lawyers’ inability to cross-examine an FBI spy whose evidence was central to the case against them.
