Shared Education Campus Gets The Go-Ahead

Education Minister, John O'Dowd, has welcomed the news that planning approval is to be recommended for a shared education campus in Omagh.

Securing approval will enable the progression of the Lisanelly site as a shared campus for up to six schools.

Minister O'Dowd said: "Today's announcement that planning permission is to be recommended for the Lisanelly site is welcome news. It is a key step forward on delivering the shared campus in Omagh.

"The Executive has committed itself to the delivery of this flagship project which will deliver real educational benefits for the children and young people of Omagh. It will be the largest single investment project ever undertaken in the education sector here and will be a massive boost to the economy and in particular the local construction industry.

"I welcome today's announcement and endorsement for the project from the Environment Minister, which is an illustration of the Executive working together to deliver on the targets set out in the Programme for Government."
