Man Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Terrorist Activity

A man has been arrested in England as part of a police investigation into dissident republican terrorist activity.

The man, 50, and originally from Lurgan, was detained in Lancashire on Tuesday morning.

The PSNI said the arrest is in connection with terrorist activity a number of years ago.

The man is to be brought back to Northern Ireland for questioning where he will be interviewed at Antrim police station.

Police have uncovered a significant amount of ammunition and equipment related to terrorism in a forest in south Armagh. The terrorist hide containing competent parts for mortars was found in the Carewamean Road area of Forkhill following a search on Wednesday 06 March.

West Belfast Man Jailed For Possession Of Firearms & Explosives
Police have welcomed the sentencing of a man from west Belfast for possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives in suspicious circumstances. 36-year-old Kevin McLaughlin was handed a five and a half year custodial sentence earlier today, Friday 08 March, at Belfast Crown Court.
