Man Dies In East Belfast Attack
Police have released the name of a man who died after being found in an alleyway in east Belfast in the early hours of Sunday 14 April.
Detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch have now launched a murder investigation after 41-year-old Stanley McAuley was found in the Chamberlain Street area of east Belfast.
Police were contacted following reports of a serious assault shortly after 01:00 in an alleyway off Chamberlain Street.
Mr McAuley was unconscious when police found him, and he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital.
He later died from his injuries. The man's family have been informed.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody helping police with their enquiries.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the Newtownards Road/Chamberlain Street area between 01:00 and 01:30 and who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact them at Musgrave on 0845 600 8000.
Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
