Olympic Boxer Reunited With Missing Medal
Boxer John McNally has been reunited with his Olympic medal after it went missing last weekend.
The 80-year-old from Belfast was the first ever Irish boxer to win an Olympic medal.
Mr McNally usually keep his silver medal out of sight, but last Friday he went to retrieve it for a sporting function and it could not be found.
On Saturday, the box turned up in the room of the south Belfast residential home where Mr McNally lives, but it was empty. Following an appeal to UTV and U105, the medal was handed in to Havelock House on Thursday.
Speaking about the return of his prize, McNally said: "I'm over the moon. I felt like crying when I got the call to say it had been handed in. It's great news."
Mr McNally won a silver medal in boxing at the 1952 Helsinki Summer games.
