Premises Searched In Illegal Fuel Investigation

Nineteen premises in 10 counties have been searched in a major investigation into illegal fuel and the activities of a Co Louth-based criminal gang.

The Criminal Assets Bureau, along with gardaí and Revenue personnel searched houses, warehouses and business premises on Wednesday morning.

The cross border operation, involving a number of agencies from Northern Ireland, led to the seizure of computers, documents and bank statements.

The searches were carried out in Louth, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Waterford, Offaly, Roscommon, Westmeath, Meath and Tipperary.

Five Men Arrested Over George Gilmore Murder
Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on 13 March this year. He was taken to hospital but died the next day. The PSNI also searched two properties in the area. The suspects have been taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.

Woman Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Activity
Police have arrested a woman in Dunmurry in connection with dissident republican activity. Detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit made the arrest during a search operation in the Dunmurry area on Wednesday, 27 June. The 39-year-old was detained during the search and questioned before being released unconditionally.

£300,000 Worth Of Herbal Cannabis Seized In Co Antrim
A man has been arrested after police seized an estimated £300,000 worth of herbal cannabis in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim. Detectives found the drugs during a search of commercial premises on Wednesday. The 30-year-old suspect is being questioned by police.

Two arrested during counterfeit goods seizure
Counterfeit DVD's worth around £600,000 have been seized during raids in Belfast and Ballymoney last night. During a joint operation by police and Customs and Excise, and the Fraud and Organised Crime Squads, DVD's and a sum of cash and other items used for making illegal DVD's were seized from shops in Belfast city centre.

Police warn of overseas fee fraud scheme
Police officers from the Economic Crime Bureau have searched a number of premises today after they issued a warning to local businesses to be on the look out for overseas companies searching for investment.
