Railway Line Reopened After Hoax Device

The railway line between Lisburn and great Victoria Street has reopened after a suspicious device was declared a hoax.

The section of the line between Lisburn and Belfast was closed on Monday morning after an object was discovered at Finaghy Halt.

Translink have said Finaghy Halt remains closed.

Knock-on delays are expected as a result of the alert.

Stormont Protests Over Marine Bill

Campaigners have been protesting outside Stormont over what they see as a lack of protection for Northern Ireland coastal waters, the BBC has reported.

The protesters were joined by Alliance MLA Anna Lo.

They are unhappy at the delay in passing a Marine Bill for Northern Ireland.

A Bill was presented in February 2012 but has only passed three of seven stages.

The Bill is seeking protection for both the sea and the seabed surrounding much of Northern Ireland.

Woman Jailed Over £76k False Benefit Claim

A woman has been jailed after pleading guilty to wrongly taking over £76,000 in income support and housing benefit.

Surina Vig, 40, from Waterfoot Park in L'Derry has been sentenced to ten months.

She had failed to declare her landlord was her partner and the father of her 12-year-old daughter.

The offences took place between 2003 and 2010.

Man Killed In Portaferry Road Accident

A man has been killed in a road accident in Portaferry, County Down.

The accident occurred on the Deer Park Road in the early hours of Monday.

Only one vehicle is thought to have been involved in the crash.
