Three Police Officers Injured In Collision

The Police Ombudsman's Office has appealed for witnesses after a police Land Rover was involved in a collision with an oncoming car on the Glenshane Road near Maghera, shortly after 6am this morning.

The female driver of the car, a silver-coloured Volkswagen Golf, has been taken to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Three police officers were also injured.

A spokesman said: "The collision happened at around 6.15am on the A6 Glenshane Road, close to the Watty Graham’s Glen Gaelic Club, about a mile from Maghera. The Land Rover was one of two similar police vehicles travelling south, while the Volkswagen was travelling in the opposite direction.

"Our investigators are co-ordinating forensic enquiries, photography at the scene, and interviews of witnesses.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen what happened, or who believes they might have information to assist our efforts to establish how this collision occurred."
