Toddler Dies In Blind Cord Accident
A two-year-old boy has died after a freak accident on Saturday.
Daniel Grant, from Mayobridgey, County Down, passed away after becoming entangled in a blind cord at his family home.
South Down MP Margaret Ritchie offered her sympathy to the mourning family.
"They are in an immense amount of grief. They have been met with a lot of support and solidarity at this difficult time. I must wanted to offer my heartfelt sympathy," she said.
Since 2010, there have been 13 deaths across the UK linked to blind cords.

79 New Jobs Announced For Lisburn Firm
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced that Lisburn company Decora Blind Systems is creating 79 jobs with support from Invest Northern Ireland’s Jobs Fund. The company, which produces window blinds, started as a small family-owned business in 1979 and has grown into a dynamic, innovative enterprise currently employing 377 people.

A unique sporting event is underway in south Belfast this week - the World Blind Golf Championship. Coming on top of news that Irishman Padraig Harrington took the honours at the USPGA Championship at Oakland Hills yesterday, this is great news for sports fans - disabled of able-bodied.

A surprising sport is coming to Northern Ireland - blind golfing. Belfast's Belvoir Park Golf Club will host the World Blind Golf Championships from 10 - 12 August. With one of the 'driving forces' behind the Championships being Comber's Jan Dinsdale - one of the top lady blind golfers in the world - the initiative is all the more appropriate.

Regional Development Minister Shaun Woodward has offered his sympathy to the families of those affected by yesterday’s gas explosion at the Carmoney Water Treatment Works in Londonderry. Drew Stevenson, 51, from Killen, near Castlederg, died in the gas explosion at the plant in Eglinton on Thursday.
