New Contract For Wrightbus Welcomed

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has congratulated Ballymena-based bus builders Wrightbus on securing an order for 179 buses from FirstGroup, the UK's leading bus and rail operator.

Wrightbus has been chosen by FirstGroup to provide its StreetLite range of lightweight buses as part of the transport company’s multi million investment in new vehicles.

Wright Group's StreetLite range was developed with research and development support from Invest Northern Ireland, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

Arlene Foster said: "This is a substantial contract for one of Northern Ireland’s most innovative manufacturing firms and cements Wrightbus’ long standing partnership with FirstGroup.

"The Wright Group's continuing success in winning contracts reflects the company’s focus on innovation and export marketing which has resulted in it becoming a significant player across a range of international markets."
