12-year-old boy charged with pensioner mugging
A 12-year-old boy has appeared in court charged in connection with the mugging of a pensioner in west Belfast on Easter Monday.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court today in relation to last week's robbery of a 72-year-old woman who was knocked unconscious and had £20 stolen from her handbag as she left Mass in Poleglass.
The boy made no reply when the charge was read out to him. He was immediately remanded in custody.
The defence solicitor said his client and his parents wanted to express their unequivocal remorse for what had happened and their sympathy to the elderly lady.

Extradited man denies murder
A 43-year-old Chinese man who was extradited from Hong Kong in connection with the death of a Chinese woman has denied murder. Wong Sui Ching appeared today at Belfast Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of 29-year-old part-time waitress Ho Mi Ye. She had been found strangled at her home in Isoline Street in east Belfast in June 1998.

Teenager Remanded Over Greengrocer Murder
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of greengrocer Harry Holland. The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was also charged with two counts of threats to kill, two of attempted wounding with intent and two of possessing an offensive weapon.

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court at the weekend charged with the murder of a Belfast teenager. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the murder of Megan McAlorum on the outskirts of Belfast on Monday 12 April. The 16-year-old victim was found dead on a desolate stretch of land, half a mile from Dunmurry.

Over 300 drink drivers were detected by the PSNI over the festive period last year, with a 14-year-old boy among them. The figure of 322 was down by more than 10% on the previous year, with the oldest person being 83 years old.

Police Appeal After Boy Hit By Car In Co Down
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a five-year-old boy was hit by a car in Co Down. The crash happened in the Malcolmson Park area in Magheralin just after 4.45pm on Thursday, 12 January. He is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
