Report On NI Household Incomes Released
A report on the income and financial affairs of households in Northern Ireland has been released by the Department for Social Development .
"Family Resources Survey, Northern Ireland, 2010/11" contains statistics for the period April 2010 to the end of March 2011.
The report found 59% of household income in NI is sourced from wages and salaries, compared to 64% in the UK as a whole.
53% of NI households had a weekly household income of less than £500 in 2010/11.
Approximately three quarters of households with children and two adults were owner occupiers.
For those households with children and only one adult present, approximately three quarters resided in either privately rented accommodation or the social rented sector.
The percentage of households which owned property outright increased from 29% in 2002/03 to 36% in 2010/11.
13% of adults with a disability in NI were full or part time employees during this period.
This compared to 49% of all adults in the NI population who were full or part time employees.
In 2010/11, 49% of adults were employees, including those in full and part-time work, while 8% of adults were self-employed. This compares to 50% and 8% in 2002/03, respectively.
The average number of persons per household is 2.5 in NI, compared to 2.3 in the UK. This has remained at the same level since 2007/08.
NI has a higher percentage of households with children at 35%, compared to the UK at 29%.

NIE Credit Rating At Risk Of Being Downgraded
The credit rating of Northern Ireland Electricity is likely to be downgraded after losing a ruling to the NI utility regulator over price rises. The Competition Commission upheld a decision by the regulator that NIE could not increase household bills by as much as £25 a year.

Man Charged Over Hyde Park Bombing
John Anthony Downey, from Co Donegal, has been charged with the murders of four soldiers in the IRA's Hyde Park bombing in London 31 years ago. Downey, 61, was arrested by police as he came off a plane at London's Gatwick Airport on Sunday. He is accused of being responsible for a car bomb in South Carriage Drive.
