Factory blaze threatens 10 jobs at Derry engineering firm
Around 10 jobs are set to go in Co Londonderry following a fire at an engineering factory last night.
The blaze was spotted at Foyleside Engineering in Creggan at around 10pm. Firecrews were called and eventually got hold of the fire, preventing it spreading to nearby shops and offices.
A fire brigade spokesperson said it was too early to determine how the fire was started.

UK-Born Fireman Wins Racist Compensation
An English-born firefighter has been awarded €5,000 in compensation for discrimination by Limerick City Council. An Equality Tribunal heard Martin Mannering, now living in Cappamore, Co Limerick was left a note to leave his job because he was no longer "in Middlesbrough".

Irish Engineering Jobs To Triple By 2020
Irish engineering jobs are to triple over the next ten years, according to a new report. The figures, which come after it was revealed that 6% of workers in the trade are currently unemployed, have been released in an Engineers Ireland survey.

A Portglenone company is investing £1.7m to develop sales of a new range of fire doors in Great Britain. Essential Designs (NI) Ltd is also planning to move to a new and purpose-built 31,000sq ft factory at Creagh Industrial Estate, Toombridge soon, which is being assisted by Invest Northern Ireland.
