Student raped at south Belfast golf club
Police are investigating the rape of a 19-year-old teenager in a south Belfast golf club in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The female student had just left an event at the Kings Hall when she was confronted by a lone male who attacked her, police said.
The man is described as being in his early twenties, six foot tall, of thin build with a thin freckled face and pointed nose. He has short, neat dark-ginger coloured hair and was wearing a denim jacket and jeans. He also had what was described as a 'posh' Belfast accent.
Detective Inspector Raymond Ramsey said the teenager had attended a dance event in the Kings Hall, which was attended by over 4,000 people. She left the Kings Hall at approximately 2.40am and was assaulted in the grounds of Balmoral Golf Club, adjacent to the Kings Hall.
Detective Inspector Ramsey also added that the victim believes she may have seen the attacker on the steps of the Kings Hall as she left the area.
Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time, or who may have any information in relation to this assault, to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
