Men Charged Over Witness Intimidation

Four men have been charged by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch investigating the alleged intimidation of a witness in Coalisland, County Tyrone.

The men, aged 29, 31, 42 and 45, are due to appear in court in Strabane on 10 January.

The 29 year old will also face a charge of breaching bail.

The charges follow an incident in the Moor Road area of Coalisland on Tuesday night.

Three men forced access to a house around 20:00 on Tuesday night and threatened a 35 year old man who is a witness in a court case.

The accused then ran off when challenged by the man, who was in the property with his wife and young children at the time.

The charges follow an appeal by the PSNI.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the movements of a silver Volvo S70 taxi, with an Eagle company sign on its roof, between 18:00 in Belfast on Tuesday and midnight in Coalisland.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 028 9180 1507. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
