Son Charged Over GAA Father's Murder
The son of Aloysius Hackett has been charged with the murder of his father in County Tyrone last weekend.
Aloysius Hackett, a respected figure in GAA circles in Tyrone and a former chairman of St. Macartan's GAA club, was found dead at his home on Aghindarragh Road in Augher on Friday night.
The 60-year-old man is reported to have died after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Last night his 18-year-old son Sean was charged by detectives investigating the incident.
The teenager is a rising Gaelic football player who has captained the Tyrone minor team.
He is scheduled to appear before Omagh Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.
Mr Hackett’s funeral is also due to be held on Wednesday. A minute's silence was held at Sunday's McKenna Cup match between Tyrone and Derry in Omagh.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Sunday by detectives.
He has been released, pending a report to prosecutors.

Queen's honours Tyrone GAA Manager
Tyrone GAA manager, Mickey Harte, has today been honoured by Queen's University in Belfast. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of the University for services to Gaelic Football, which he received at a graduation ceremony this afternoon.

Funeral held for Tyrone GAA star
Thousands of mourners have attended the funeral of Tyrone GAA star Cormac McAnallen in his home town of Eglish, near Dungannon today. At the funeral mass Archbishop Sean Bradey said that the young man had been a hero, and an icon for young men. The 24-year-old was found dead at his home in bed on Tuesday.

A mother and her two sons have been attacked at their house in Co Antrim on Thursday. Two masked men attacked the 46-year-old woman and her sons outside their Moss Side Gardens home, near Ballymoney, at about 11pm.

Police investigate ‘suspicious’ death in Strabane
Police in Strabane are investigating the suspicious death of a 43-year-old woman in the town. The body of the woman was discovered in a house in the Churchview area of Strabane, County Tyrone last night. It is understood a man is currently assisting police with their enquiries. There are no further details at present.
