Two Men Charged Over Planning Offences
Two men have been fined at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court for planning offences.
Coleraine man Hugh Patrick Henry was fined £200 plus £105 legal and court costs.
Mr Henry of Craigmore Road, Ringsend, Coleraine pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a Breach of Condition Enforcement Notice which required visibility splays to be implemented for a dwelling house.
The offence was the second committed by Mr Henry in failing to comply with the Breach of Condition Enforcement Notice.
His initial court appearance in May 2010 had resulted in a fine of £200 plus £104 costs.
In a separate planning offence, Brian Hughes of Garden Street, Magherafelt was fined £250 plus £75 court costs and £20 summons costs.
He was charged at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on four counts of displaying unauthorised signage on land south west of 87 Moyarget Road, Ballycastle.
DOE Planning brought about the charges on the basis that it is an offence to display an advertisement without consent.

Two Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Two people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates court for claiming benefits they were not entitled to. Gerard Browne, 29, of Summerhill Drive, Belfast was given 12 months probation and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Incapacity Benefit totalling £377.

Benefit Frauds Face Court Sanctions
Fraudsters are being made to pay the price for claiming a variety of benefits they were not entitled to. A total of 14 people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates' court yesterday with Joanne McBride (35) of Portallo Street, Belfast claiming Income Support totalling £4,451 while failing to declare she was working.

Named And Shamed: Frauds Pay Penalty
A dozen people have been caught fiddling the benefits' system in Northern Ireland. All have been identified on the Department of Social Development's (DSD) own website - a new development - and have had their details circulated to the local media in each of the areas concerned.
